Highlight: 2026 Spring Bulb Show at the Botanic Garden of Smith College

Every March there is a place where the spring jumps forward. For a few weeks the smell of blooming flowers is accessible to any and all who visit the Botanic Garden of Smith Collage. Their Annual Spring Bulb Show is in full effect, right now, and if you’ve never been it’s a sight for sore eyes.

Protected by glass domes, the gardens feature trees and plants from around the world, each of the glass greenhouses features a unique controlled climate and represents an eco system.

The Bulb Show brings colors to an otherwise snowed out pallet. Deep greens play perfectly as a backdrop for coordinated bursts of vibrancy, as the bulbs display their pageantry with vigor.

There are art instillations within the show and informative displays in the waiting areas. Throughout the greenhouses there are educational plaques and signage, as well as benches to rest and soak in the atmosphere.

The Botanic Garden traditionally hosted their fall Chrysanthemum Show as well, however in 2024 they held their final Mum Show, and are making way for new botanical exabits in the future. So stay tuned!

The Spring Bulb Show started last Saturday and runs through till March 22nd! Opening weekend tends to have longer lines, as this event draws over 20k visitors annually. Even now, you can expect a moderate crowd during the week and don’t rule out the possibility of a short wait outside on the weekends.

Suggested donation is $5, and the smell of blooming bulbs in March is absolutely worth every penny.
